Richard Woods for LLRH_ Logo No. 73, Digital Print Silk Scarf
Richard Woods for LLRH_ Logo No. 73, Digital Print Silk Scarf
Logo no 73 represents something of a classic Woods work: functional, stylish, and rendered with his distinctive wooden-plank motif. The digital printed silk drape is produced by LRRH_ as part of their Art Edition By series of artist-designed wearables in a limited edition, numbered 87/100.
Though he originally trained as a sculptor, Woods has made his name by creating surfaces, not statues. His signature technique involves covering everything from tables and chairs to entire houses with his whimsical and near-cartoonish patterns, drawing equally from the worlds of art, architecture, and design. Woods cites his childhood growing up in Chester, England as a major influence on his current work, especially the wooden floorboards and 1970’s designs that surrounded him. It seems like the approach has paid off; Woods regularly takes on major commissions from figures including Jeffery Deitch, and has shown his work in prestigious venues like the Royal Academy of Arts and the 2003 Venice Biennale.
