Antique Royal Copenhagen Figurine 12107 Amager Mourning Costume

Early 20th Century Royal Copenhagen 12107 Mourning Costume, Amager Woman. Over glaze decoration, in mint and nice condition. The front of the base reads: "Marchen Chrilles Bachers D, Sorgedragt Amager" Carl Martin-Hansen (1877-1941). Marked on the underside with the royal heritage of Julian Marie, crown over 3 waves (1905-1920), along with the item number and the painter's initials, LX.

Danish National Costumes
This series is comprised of 47 figures, which were produced in the period 1906-1925. His contemporaries admired the artist for his considerable production of busts and public monuments. He belonged to a school of Danish artists, which, after the turn of the century, carried on the naturalistic tradition in works, marked by both tastefulness and richness of characterization.
